Sixes Arts Festival, Arts Career Fair and Writing Club are a HUGE Success!

Lynne Watts, Susan Winchester and Pam Gardner
Every year at Sixes, our Art Teacher Extraordinare, Susan Winchester, creates an Arts Festival for our students and parents to attend. Together with our Awesome Music Teacher, Margaret Swarts, they put together an evening of entertainment for parents and students where they stroll the halls and view the art that has been created all year.

There are crafts you can make....

Native American music provided by Mike and Joy Cook....

Other music provided by Sixes parents and students....

and Balloon Art....

During the Arts Festival we always have a closing evening for our Writing Club when aspiring writers can read their work to family and friends.  It is always a huge success and this year was no exception. What a lot of gifted writers we have!  Here are just a few of them...

This year in addition to the Arts Festival at night, we also had an Arts Career Festival in the morning that all 800+ of our student were able to attend.  Students moved from center to center to learn about what it takes to be an author, a graphic designer, a product designer, a watercolor artist, a landscape architect, an illustrator, a portrait photographer, a mural artist, a photographer, a crochet artist or a poet.  Students loved it!!

As an author, I was able to talk to students about what goes into creating a story for a book:

At the station next to me, was Pam Gardner, my illustrator:

A watercolor artist talked about her craft...

A quilter showed students the gorgeous quilts she had made......

They learned what goes into product design....

They learned about portrait photography....

Students learned how to create poetry....

and high school honors art students taught them to draw....

It was a most AMAZING day.  Thank you Susan Winchester for all your hard work!
